Mt John

After spending the morning helping at the working bee the guys decided we should go to Mt John as we hadn’t been before. It is the site of the University of Canterbury’s Observatory. Visitors are welcome and they now have a cafe up there! The drive up was really steep and the drops sheer and vertigo inducing! But Oh Boy was it worth it! It is absolutely stunning. The Mackenzie Basin is so brown, contrasting with stunning turquoise lakes, and totally surrounded by snow capped mountains. The coffee was good too!
