Lake Alexandrina

We spent a weekend with friends in Timaru. They leave their caravan at Lake Alexandrina (near Lake Tekapo) for the summer season and had a working bee organised for the Saturday we were there. The Ref was spewing about being highjacked into helping at a working bee. I figured we were guests and had to go with the flow. I hadn’t been to Lake Alex so was interested to see what it was like.

It was a stunning day, the lake was peaceful and so beautiful (check out the slide show).

The Ref pitched in and helped put up a shelter over the petanque court (???) and even though we went off sightseeing in the afternoon, the other helpers appreciated his presence. It also made the afternoon beer all the sweeter!

All in all we are so glad we went. We had a wonderful and memorable day. Doing our own thing in Timaru would never have matched it in a million years. Sometimes it just pays to go with the flow and head off the beaten track!
